Honey Whiskey Styled Shoot

It was a superbly coordinated creative evening that was well worth the wait. We had planned to pull this off last Fall, but somehow our busy lives got in the way.. not sure how that happened {insert sarcasm}. A bunch of talented business owners, who also happen to carry the title of “mom”, decided it was best to push the epic shoot off until the following Summer. So glad we stuck to our plan!

It was my second time collaborating with the sweet-as-can-be forward-thinking Aspen Westerbeck of Aspen Jean Planning and first time with Sara Marsh of Sara Campbell Photography, whose work I have admired from afar through the many images of our B+B Brides!

June is very busy for us at Brides & Beyond, especially on this particular Saturday. After I closed up the boutique, I rallied up my supportive {and also very creative} husband to accompany me that evening to Columbus Grove, a place I had never been but have been helping A LOT more brides from the area this year! Yay!

We loaded up my truck with a couple of wedding dresses from Casablanca Bridal and Pronovias, some tuxes from Brides & Beyond Man, and a few bridesmaids dresses from Haley Paige Occasions, and a bunch of clips and set out on our way up North. A bumble bee must have also gotten the memo that her presence was also needed and made a cameo appearance looking for some “Honey Whiskey” herself.

I had to bribe my husband with a “date night”, which is something that’s few and far between these days. He willingly obliged when I promised a stop at The Axe Handle : an awesome recommendation from Aspen and 5 stars in my book. I had some of Aspen’s family’s wine and my husband had a few craft beers. The food was “choice” and Skylar, the bartender/owner, was a very cool conversationalist. I am looking forward to taking a road trip there with my friends very soon.

Styled shoots are A LOT of work by all involved, but meeting and networking with like-minded wedding industry professionals is an absolute blast!

When we arrived at the venue I was already smitten. Black Bird Farm is a GEM of a location and the owners Deb and her daughter Nicki were a breath of creative fresh air. My husband and I loved bouncing ideas off of each other and shared a lot of similarities. Learn more about them on Sara’s blog here

You couldn't help but love Spencer of Spencer’s Sugar Shop , her one month baby in tow, touching up her Honeycomb Geode Cake masterpiece that more than the baby was drooling over! The creativity and passion she has for her sweet business is incomparable.

You can’t put a price on experience

Find the value in an event planner, a photographer who suits your style and an experienced wedding retailer

Sara, Aspen and I had gotten together at my shop a few months before the shoot to compile the “looks” that Aspen Jean Planning desired for the shoot. It’s always a good idea to use Pinterest as a loose form of inspiration to gather ideas, but touching, feeling and seeing the actual colors, fabrics, and textures are the key to achieving the look you desire.

One very important bit of advice I like to pass on to my brides is that real life and the internet are not the same! You can spend hours upon hours of pinning color palettes, trying to find “that same dress”, or decor only to find out that designers have many different names for the color you’re looking for, or your getting the “out of stock” notification from your online order.

At Brides & Beyond we are the color + style + fashion + selection + experience industry leaders that brides have trusted for nearly 20 years. As I am approaching my 10th year at Brides & Beyond my biggest tool in my belt is knowledge: knowledge is power. The long-term relationships I have built with vendors and other wedding professionals are invaluable for planning and outfitting your wedding day.

With 350+ wedding dresses in sizes 8-26 that stay within a $900 - $2500 budget (most between $1200 - $1600) my staff and I pay attention to the details and thrive on the personal relationships that we make with our brides…and our vendors!

Our time and dedication to our brides is what we’re passionate about. Helping to put together the perfect looks combined with the connections of the best in the biz! You can’t go wrong….and you’re supporting a small woman-owned business!

Our experience translates to your experience!

Small town feel + city style and selection

We’re not a big box mentality here, We sweat the small stuff so you don’t have to!

Do you want picture perfect? We’ve got you covered! Do you want peace of mind? Ya, we’ve got you there too!
